Small Groups

Annual "Journey" Spiritual Growth Programs

We run a variety of spiritual growth programs designed to serve people who want to take a meaningful and positive step in personal and spiritual growth. Each is interactive, and creates opportunities for individual study, building friendships, finding support, and becoming more connected. There are typically three core components: individual study, small group participation, and Sunday worship. The purpose of the programs is to help people make progress on their journey in the context of a supportive and welcoming environment. You can participate at whatever level you prefer, absorbing new ideas through listening and reading, or contributing your own thoughts and reflections during discussion times.

Our next "Journey" program is called "Living Gratefully"

This is a seven-week program that offers a curriculum for people to gather together, explore and celebrate the essential "gifts" of divine providence. Six weeks of readings, questions, quotes, and personal reflections make this program ideal for small group study.

What people are saying:

"Focusing on gratitude has enriched my life in a way I never thought possible."

"I appreciate how this program helps me focus my spirituality, bringing it down to earth in a tangible way."

Sunroom Spiritual Growth Groups

From time to time, various people hold Sunroom Spiritual Growth Groups. This is a fresh approach, developed recently through a sister congregation, New Church Live, in Philadelphia, PA. Consider trying it out! It features very interesting video-based content regarding personal spiritual growth, combined with group interaction to foster a sense of community.

What is a Sunroom Group?
People meet together to explore spiritual topics, allowing God's transformative love and wisdom, warmth and light, to flow in.
Relies on a 10-minute content video with discussion afterwards.
Incorporates authentic sharing to grow spiritually in a closer relationship with each other and with God.

The course is free.
This group meets whenever there is a leader/host and a small group interested - at the location of the group's choice.
For more information, contact the church office 520-298-1245.

Men's Group - Ongoing Home Study Group

Weekly meetings are held in homes with a focus on supporting one another and discussing some book or topic of mutual interest. We recently finished studying “The Path of Integrity,” which is another in the annual series of "Journey Spiritual Growth Groups." Our meetings are relaxed and supportive, mixing prayer, study, sharing, and fellowship. Interested? Call the church office or email the pastor directly: Nathan Gladish.

"Spiritual Growth Groups"

The "Spiritual Growth Group" is the gem in the Sunrise Chapel setting. Developed in the 1990s by the founding pastor and his wife, Frank and Louise Rose, it expanded to other congregations to serve many more people with its practical, life-changing approach. Each session includes a "task" that allows participants to practice a spiritual principle in daily life. The first 12 tasks are explained in detail in the book, The Joy of Spiritual Growth. The second book is called The Joy of Spiritual Living. Altogether there are 72 tasks. To learn more or to find out about joining a group, contact the pastor, Nathan Gladish.

Book Study / Reading Group

From time to time, we offer interactive book studies to focus on works by or related to the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. These study groups are usually held at Sunrise Chapel. Dates and times depend on the needs of the group. If you are interested in attending the classes, call or email the Pastor.

Begin a New Life - All day workshop scheduled for November 14, 2015

Begin a New Life is a workshop on 4 universal steps of life change and spiritual transformation that bridge across all faiths and cultures. The presenter and developer of this program, Mark Pendleton of Chicago, IL, will lead you through an inspiring and practical process that helps you make and sustain any life change that you want or need to make—one or two changes at a time. It doesn't matter how big or small the change is, this process can help. The steps are both Biblically based and inclusive of all faiths and cultures.
